"The Wreck of the Titan, or Futility" Chapter 1 (with commentary)

The infamous book considered by some to be a premonition of the Titanic disaster. I read through the book giving the occasional comment on the comparisons between the ships, as well as historical context at the time.

"The Wreck of the Titan, or Futility" by Morgan Robertson, 1898

Please bear in mind that this book was written in 1898 and contains some of the social stigmas at the time. Obviously, stereotypes expressed in this book do not reflect our views here at Titanic: Honor and Glory and we hope that people will take them with a grain of salt.

So I listened to the whole series with you while I was cleaning my house and I looked to the screen and thought this man was burning kiwis in his fire place.

What the author's original intention was when he wrote the book: "Humanity's hubris will be its downfall! Nature cannot be contained or controlled!"
What people remember this book for: "OMG! This guy predicted the Titanic sinking!"

Ok I have trouble believing how Titan was 1.5 times heavier than Titanic despite being 82 feet shorter than her real counterpart
(Titan may be a fat girl but she sure is a beautiful girl!!!!!!)

It would have to have about 13 floors in the Hull not the superstructure to at least stand a chance at 9 watertight compartments
